Regardless of the perishable products being shipped, they are almost always valuable and in some cases nearly irreplaceable. As viable temperature ranges very dramatically from one product to the next, many challenges face the shipper in order to get products from point A to point B effectively and economically.
IS PERISHABLE PACKAGING A GUESSING GAME TO YOU?
IT DOSEN'T HAVE TO BE!
As parcel delivery companies continue to raise rates and fees, or charge dimensional weights to increase billings, it can cost a company greatly to use ineffective insulative packaging methods. Sometimes even modest changes can minimize a parcel's dim weight, or beef it up to allow longer safe transit times and take advantage of lower cost service rates.
Some products, such as some pharmaceuticals that can not freeze or that need to be maintained in a narrow temperature range, can seem a challenge to ship at all. Keep in mind that solutions usually do exist, and do not always have to be expensive.
Plastilite Corporation associates have the years of experience needed to offer ideas, advice, and testing of an optimal thermal controlled package for nearly any product.
LEVELS OF ASSISTANCE
ADVICE - Plastilite representatives have actively aided clients in nearly every industry develop packaging solutions for their products. Though the thermal mass, temperature ranges, and time in transit specifics vary from one project to the next, we can generally offer packaging and procedure recommendations as a starting point to companies that are just starting out, or that are capable and willing to go through the trial and error of finding a system that works for them.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING
- As a certified ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) testing lab for thermal studies, Plastilite can both develop a packaging system and then offer support data to verify it's effectiveness. Costs of services are dependent on a number of factors including; the number of different package solutions required, if various seasonal protocols are requested, and if full validation and documentation of test results are called for. For existing customers these fees may be discounted based on business history and volume, and for prospective clients a portion of the fees may be also be written off as discounts toward future purchases of Plastilite packaging materials.
FEE FOR SERVICE TESTING - Though Plastilite primarily uses its testing capabilities in support of finding solutions for our clients and prospective clients, we can also act as an independent lab to validate existing temperature protocols that do not involve our own products. Service fees are once again subject to the number of tests and test factors required, and availability of lab time.
Please contact Plastilite to speak with an industrial packaging sales representative about a potential project. A written quote will be provided if fees are required once specific project goals are discussed and all essential information gathered.
